It’s My Life Kamloops Society is governed by a Board of Directors elected by society members at our Annual General Meeting. The Board provides strategic direction for the organization and is responsible for safeguarding our mission, vision, and values.

The Board of Directors includes a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and one additional Director. All board members serve predetermined terms as outlined in our bylaws.

Below are our current Board Members and their roles. If you are interested in learning more or applying to join the Board, please reach out to us through our application form.

The Board Members of It’s My Life Kamloops Society are dedicated to:

 

  • Seeing beyond the disability to the abilities, strengths, and potential of every individual
  • Developing and managing services that are nurturing, caring, and supportive of personal growth, choice, and self-determination
  • Recognizing and valuing the unique contributions each person brings to the community, and creating opportunities for them to share those abilities
  • Informing, educating, involving, and motivating others to understand and uphold the rights of people with disabilities to live, work, and belong in our community
  • Acknowledging that individuals and their families are central partners in all decisions
  • Fostering and facilitating innovative ideas that enhance inclusion, independence, and belonging

Membership Types

Regular Members

A person is eligible to become a regular member if they:

  • Have reached the age of majority as defined by the legislation of the Province of British Columbia, and
  • Are interested in the objects, projects, and work of It’s My Life Kamloops Society (IMLKS).

An eligible person may apply to the Board of Directors for regular membership. Upon approval by the Board and payment of the $5 membership fee, the applicant becomes a regular member of the society.

Associate Members

 The following individual may apply to the Board of Directors for associate membership in the society:

  • A person who is a first-degree relative of an employee.

Upon approval by the Board of Directors and payment of the annual $5 membership fee, the applicant becomes an associate member of the society.
